Helping Hands is a Volunteer Involving project of Voluntary and Community Action Wirral. Become a volunteer with Helping Hands.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life and assist people to live as independently as possible. We recruit and co-ordinate volunteers to work with older people, living in their own homes.
Services offered include:
Befriending involves visiting people who are housebound or lonely. A volunteer will call once or twice a week for a chat or maybe to go out for a walk.
Some volunteers are able to take people out in a wheelchair to doctors, shops or even on a full day coach trip.
This service is for essential medical appointments, and is carried out by volunteer drivers using their own cars.
Grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning and weeding, equipment is normally provided by the client.
Volunteers will carry out most small DIY jobs within the home, but cannot tackle jobs which involve gas, water, electrical work or climbing high ladders.
Although we do not charge for any of our services donations of any amount are welcomed, as they help towards maintaining the cost of a quality service.
Anyone can make a referral to the project, if you or someone you know would benefit from the service please contact the office.
After a referral a home visit will be arranged to assess the need, and provide more detailed information.
All volunteers are vetted, checked with the Criminal Records Bureau and fully insured.
The services offered are dependent on the availability of suitable volunteers.
